When Dazai Osamu is with Chuuya Nakahara, he wants to die a little less. That's a secret, one he holds closely to his chest. Something he has not spoken of to anyone, not even Odasaku.
Dazai hates Chuuya. That's also not a secret.
The secret is that Dazai doesn't actually hate Chuuya at all. He doesn't know what he feels for Chuuya and he doesn't spend long trying to figure it out. It's easier to hate him anyway.

The first time Dazai saw Chuuya's corrupted form he was enraptured. Chaos and destruction had never been so perfect, ripping free from Chuuya's petite form. It wasn't until after, when Chuuya collapsed in a crumpled heap on the ground that Dazai felt fear. Fear was not a concept that Dazai was accustomed to, or could even recognize at the time. It was only after the third, fourth, fifth time of seeing Chuuya's battered and broken body that he realized this must be what it feels like to be afraid.
