"I traveled here on a sailing ship with my best friend. My mother paid for our whole trip and this carriage. I am only a couple of steps away from the door of my great-great-great-grandparents' house, even though it's owned by other people now. I'll be safer here, with the civil war going on in my townhouse." It is the late 1800s. A young lady with her best friend travels to her ancestors' house which is owned by other people. She discovers that the owners of the property own a slave girl and that she might be related to her, and tries to help her when she sees how harshly she is treated.
