After the events of the masquerade of the guilty, Furina is set free from her duties after the sacrifice of Focalors, and now Lives a normal life, wandering through the Vassari passage, searching for her purpose in the world.
But as far as her past is concern the world was once a stage to her...and will forever be her stage, as she finds herself once more as the lead cast on yet another play, that will either once more save Fontaine or damned it.

And now, with the curtains closed, I-" Her voice wavered. "I don't know who I am anymore." A soft breeze passed between them. The city of Fontaine continued to thrive below, its people moving forward. But Furina remained frozen, trapped in a past that no longer existed. Neuvillette, however, did not pity her. "You have carried this burden alone for centuries," he said quietly. "It is only natural to feel unmoored now that it has been lifted." She scoffed lightly, though there was no real malice in it. "That's just a polite way of saying I'm lost, isn't it?" A faint smile ghosted Neuvillette's lips. "Perhaps." Furina exhaled sharply, shaking her head. "I want to leave," she murmured. "Start fresh. Find a new home." She let out a humorless chuckle. "I have money, at least. Being an Archon paid well." Neuvillette did not disagree. "...But I don't know where to go," she admitted. "Or who I'm supposed to be." A quiet pause. Then- "You do not have to decide everything now." Furina turned slightly, looking up at him. "The people of Fontaine do not hate you," Neuvillette continued. "You may not see it yet, but you are still a part of this nation."
