Scarlett had always hated the King but never truly understood why. She lived in a small village within the King's empire, a place where his rule was absolute and his presence loomed over every aspect of their lives. He was known for his cruelty, arrogance, and womanizing ways, but despite that, he was also a very efficient ruler. He kept the empire running smoothly and maintained the peace among the different villages.

Every year, King Leonard would host a choosing ceremony where he would select a few villagers from his empire and assign them titles according to his preference. Scarlett had always dreaded this ceremony, knowing that it would mean leaving her family and the only life she had ever known. But this year, her worst fears came true when she was chosen to attend the ceremony.
She had been ripped away from her home and forced to serve in his palace, all because he saw fit to choose her.

Scarlett's hatred for the King had turned into contempt within a few months. She vowed to never let him see her as anything other than a lowly servant. But little did she know, their paths would cross again and she would see a different side to the cruel King. A side that would make her question everything she thought she knew about him.
