Angelina Fitzroy, the image of wealth and shallowness, finds herself near failing at Princeton University. Faced with the reality of her failing grades, she is assigned a tutor: Alexander Castro, a handsome and hardworking European student who worked his way to Princeton despite his hardships.

Their initial encounters filled with venom and spite, each with a deep resentment for the other's way of life. However, as the semester progresses, Angelina realizes that she's unable to grasp even the basics of her coursework. In a last ditch effort to save her life, she approaches Alexander, asking him to tutor her over winter break.

Alexander agrees, but under one condition - Angelina must learn to live like a normal person, without the luxuries and conveniences she's always taken for granted.
