Matteo was a mafia boss. He had all the power in the world. Drugs, weapons, Human trafficking... whatever bad stuff you can think about, he was part of it. His father- Tommaso Gray, The God of Italian Mafia was a man of fear, the whole of mafia world feared his existence.
To continue his legacy he had plans for his son which Matteo didn't want to be part of.
