It's very rare that I write fanfiction, but this AU story (...or IS it?) takes place DURING the events of "Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope." This beloved film was a story that was told-and can be retold-in the editing. In this fanfic novella, I try to find in-world answers for some of the seeming inconsistencies in the films, and wind up discovering a whole new way of reading the events we see on-screen. Be warned: once you see the galaxy from this point of view, the story you understand Star Wars to be may never quite be the same.
