Winter is an Asgardian who was abandoned on Earth and adopted by Johann Schmidt (the Red Skull) as a child. She was the ability to create and manipulate ice and snow as well as survive in extreme cold. She befriends a soldier named James Barnes from the 107th who was selected to participate in Doctor Zola's experiments. Decades later, he earns the moniker 'Winter's Soldier' which was eventually shortened to the Winter Soldier.
