Earth found a portal to a different world. A world they want to tame. So what do they do? They take as many citizens as they can spare and make an army. They send them through the portal, telling them to slaughter the creatures that live there.
Techno really doesn't want to do what the government asked him to do. But if he wants to go back to Earth he has to. Then of course they do him dirty and he now has to look after one of the creatures. His hair reminds him of the sun of Earth and he's loud.
OR Tommy is an alien Techno gets an attachment to and Techno has to decide if he's willing to leave Earth behind forever, or watch his new friend get experimented on.

Some are missing limbs, and some are missing and eye, or both. They don't even appear to be alive to the boy. They look his way but don't mind him. Tommy is confused and scared. He can slightly remember this place to be his once home, and it makes him upset that's it's gone to such shit, and scared by everyone's screams and the fires and the fighting, and mostly, the fact that some people are eating each other.
