Avery was already living in a fucked up world before the apocalypse. Her father was a bad guy with short temper and abusive tendencies and her older sister treated her like shit knowing about the fucked up things her father did to her. The only reason she kept on going and trying was because of her younger brother Frank and her best friend/ neighbour Elena Miller.
When the world went to shit, Avery didn't spot any difference between this and the world she lived before.
Some would say she was even relieved when it happened.
She was doing good with her baby brother and her best friend.

Well that was before she lost them due to a herd of walkers.
She knew they were alive, she just couldn't find them leaving her all alone in this world.

Until one day when Alex found her hiding in an abandoned house, bleeding out.

That's where their journey began.
