Excerpt from "Blood on Ice" book one of "The Ancients Saga":
"Who are you!" Killian shouted to the silhouettes moving threateningly towards him. "1, 2, 3... 7 people" Killian murmured to himself finding the fletching's of his knocked arrow. One of the figures got close enough for Killian to make out their features. A light skinned man covered head to toe in furs and with a Sabre on his side, still sheathed much to Killian's delight.
"I won't ask again, who are you? Friend or Foe?" Killian yelled to the man as he drew his bow back and aimed it at the man. After a moment the man moved. "Could they be Siber?" was the thought that kept coming to the front of Killian's mind.
Putting a single finger to his lips the man smiled and faded back into the blizzard, disappearing from view laughing. Or at least Killian thought he was laughing; he wouldn't be able to hear it even if the man was. After a moment the other members of the group started fading in and out of the blizzard. They were a well-trained group, silent and lethal, their eyes gleaming with an unnatural intensity.

Nova disguise as a boy to enter the military school. If she is discovered as a girl, she will be kicked out. She is desperate to hide from trackers who have been following her for a dozen years. No one would think to look for her in an all-male military school. She hides among werewolves and is one of the very few nonshifters at the school. She catches the new instructor's curiosity, and her identity is threatened. He claims to be her mate, but she knows that her kind don't have a mate and desperately tries to avoid him. If he stumbles upon her true identity, she is screwed. "What are you doing?!" growls his highness, ripping the knife from my hands. It tingles as his fingers close around my wrist. Fresh blood flows from the wound, turning his hands red. Deep throaty sounds, rumbling in his chest. "You hurt yourself," he says softly, pain evident in his voice. I look up and frown. "It's just a small cut," I reply, annoyed. None of the other cadets get this kind of attention. Besides, we have to learn this to pass the exam. "Shhh, it's going to be okay," he says, pressing me close. My whole side explodes with sparks. It tickles me. "You have to stop hurt yourself. Why are you even here? How am I going to protect you here?" he asks angrily. "I don't need your protection!" I shout, pushing him away. I get an angry growl back. Quickly I grab another knife and throws it over my shoulder, hitting bulls' eye. He glares at me, and the room has gone completely silent. That's when I discover that I may have gone too far with the insanely possessive highness, even though I'm grateful for the extra lessons he gives me. Then suddenly everyone hurries out of the training area. Leaving me alone with the growling, red eyed alpha. *This book contains graphic depictions of violence, sexuality, strong language, and other mature themes.* English is not my first language. "Go ahead, but Rose..." He starts to whisper and I swear there was probably a sparkle in my eyes as I cover my mouth to muffle my giggle. I grab one of the old-fashion bows and a pack filled with arrows. Axel arms encircle around me and I smirk. We were standing so close. I could feel him breathe practically. "Rosalina!" R calls out. "Shh!" Axel shushes me as I try so hard not to laugh at what I'm about to do next. R turns, his back to us. "Now, now!" Whispers Axel quickly. I draw the arrow and aim for R's hair. We've practiced this many times before, Axel and I, in his room. The action seems to fluid, so natural. I let go of the arrow and it flies towards R. R turns and grabs it with his quick reflexes. He stares at it, turning it over it his hands. His eyebrows furrow as he sniffs it and they shoot up in surprise when he realizes the scent. "Rose, this wasn't funny." He says, twisting the arrow and snapping it in half with his bare hands. I can't help myself. His oblivious expression is too funny and I burst into laughter. Axel grins and grabs my hand. I notice the action but don't say anything. But his hand feels right in mine. "Come on, let's go before he kills us." ______________________________ 16-year old, Rosalina Hunter's life is everything but usual. BOOK #1 in The Fire series TRIGGER WARNING IN SOME CHAPTERS He leans closer, keeping me pinned against the wall with his hands on either side of my head. I glanced at both of them before holding his glare with my own. He was giving me a cold stare, caging me in like an animal. I bit my lip, trying to hold it back. I was never good in situations like these. He stopped leaning forward when his face was just inches from mine. He was trying to make me uncomfortable. Trying to scare me, but he didn't. I wasn't scared of him. I didn't hide my face or get nervous... I just bit my lip harder, trying to hold it in. It would just make things worse for me, I bet. He kept his eyes on mine as I glanced at his friend behind him with his arms crossed and a bored expression on his face. I looked back at the man in front of me. "You shouldn't act that way around me." He says coldly. "I can have you dead right-" I couldn't hold it in. I started laughing. He leans back, shocked, but his face goes into a glare as soon as his friend behind him perks up, watching, interested now. I calm down a little. "I'm sorry." I say, catching my breath. "Continue, Continue." He watched me closely before leaning closer to me again. "I can have you killed-" Suddenly, I lost it again, laughing harder, bending a little to hold my stomach. He punched the wall in an effort to scare me but instead made me laugh even harder, falling to the ground and rolling on my side. Soon I had his friend laughing with me as the man in front of me glared at both of us. "Don't give me that look. She's the one who started laughing." His friend said, wheezing a little bit and trying to stop laughing. I calmed down a bit, standing up to face them, a smile on my face. "Now, if you're done threatening me," I raise an eyebrow. "Or at least trying to. I'll be on my way." With that, I grabbed my backpack, turned my back to them, and walked away.

"How did you find this place?" Zia asked the King, speaking for the first time since entering the tent. "I've been searching for the location of your Headquarters for months- years, really." Donathan admitted. "We only found it when we got wind that two new recruits would be coming here today. My men tailed them here this morning and sent for me as soon as they were certain of the location." The tent was silent. Finally Arch said thoughtfully, "You say you come to negotiate?" The King nodded. "Very well, then," Arch said, "I will oblige. If I do answer your plea, can I insure that this camp and all those who live in it will remain protected and untouched?" Donathan nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, I believe you can." "And," he went on, "can I trust that this place will remain secret to the outside world?" "My men are sworn into secrecy," the King assured him. Arch fell silent once again. This quiet seemed to last longer than all the others. Zia wanted to know what he would say, and His Highness and Jay appeared to be in the same boat. "Very well, then," Arch said, stretching forth his hand for the King to shake. "When shall we sort out the details?" Cover made by the incredibly talented @italychick
