Afterall, being surrounded by murderers and thieves don't really set a good example while growing up.
So it wasn't his fault he ended up this way, no one's fault really. It was just a weird twist of fate that he ended up being born as the chief's son.
Being a bandit in the Branwen tribe is one thing. But being the Branwen tribe's Prince? Yeah, life isn't easy

Due to Qrows' semblance and a messy end to they're relationship, He was mostly absent but he did try to be there for the children when he could.
