Dorothy Han always knew that her only family was her grandmother, who raised her since she was a little baby. But her grandmother dies of cancer and not long after her whole life turns upside down as she finds out she have parents and a twin brother. After knowing about her mothers death Dorothy's mother reaches out to her and brings to Los Angeles to live with her. 
But she really wasn't welcomed there. Her parents don't want her. They only took her in because they don't want her to end up on the streets or an orphanage. 
But her parents aren't the only problem. She have a new language and culture to learn and know about.
