Almost Is Never Enough

In a world of almosts and what could have beens, two souls find themselves bound by an unspoken promise to be there when no one else is. They are each other's safety nets, the ones left lingering in the shadows of second chances to more chances and always waiting, always hoping. But life is cruel to those who wait, and their love was never loud enough to be heard above the noise of their separate worlds; they've been losing the love they never dared to claim.

Even as they drifted apart, the thought of destiny playing its hand kept them going, as if the universe itself owed them another chance to rewrite their story for the last and right time.
