Dawn Orwen had just lost her older sister Denver to heart failure. She copes with her grief by deciding to journal again. She journals daily in the woods at a tree stump. The tree stump where she and Denver engraved their initials on. Nothing has been the same since Denver's passing. After Denver's wake, she is approach by a boy at the tree stump. Arcen Lowell. He isn't the warmest person you can meet, and Dawn picks up on that quickly. She wants nothing to do with him, but that soon changes.

For multiple months, the main character has been hiding themselves from this boy, Tal, because they've been scared of what Tal may think of them. After a while of waiting and hiding, Tal finally notices the main character and automatically falls in love with them; they had love at first sight. Slowly this major change affected the main character, their everyday life, and experiences they haven't had before. Their friends leave them and the main character is left with Tal and a few of his friends. After what felt like 2 hours, we broke apart. "I'm sorry," he said blushing a little "but it just kinda clicked." he explained, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's okay." I said, also starting to blush a little. For 2 minutes the awkward just settled between us, and I swear it was tangible. He broke the silence first, finally meeting my eyes and not staring at his high-tops. "So...", he started and chuckled nervously "Could I get your number?" I stared at him for a second wondering if it would even be a good idea, when he said "I know we don't know each other, but I felt fireworks just now, and even if we don't go on a date, I'd love to see you again."
