The text is layered like the skeins of paint through Jackson Pollock's masterpiece, Lavender Mist. It spreads wide through friendship, love and romance; and then converges as a unity of thought in a bedroom. So as the text unfolds memory in a non-chronological way, recalling key life incidents of selfishness, lost opportunities, and passion, these, in turn, trigger a memory of other life incidents. Yet, the tangents all hold because they are framed within a more significant memory frame. So, no incident is left behind; they keep building and informing the reveals when they occur. The pivotal point where the reader goes, ah, I knew this because it was always there. Bubbling memories, blue and uplifting echo through the text in places, names, colours, objects, plays on words, and metaphors, already enriching the text read in previous scenes. The adult scenes sizzle because they have a passion context within current or past yearning. Enjoy the sexual complexities of the characters as pleasure ignited by pleasures ignition is a pleasure for two or three! The novel's themes include friendship, passion, selfishness, contrition, resilience, cheating and love, all unfolded on a splattered action painting canvas of our, at times, messy lives where the world and its tragedies can also invade unannounced. The text will reward the booklover who hovers in and recalls previous nuances of the text, like their own recall of the sweetest friendship, love and romance moments in their lives.
