A few months after the events of the NBC Hannibal show, the title character shows up in Washington state in search of a new place to set up and continue work life.

Presumed dead and stumbling upon an ignorant FBI detective unaware of the Chesapeake Ripper case, and incidents following and surrounding it, he's able to get his hands on another mentally unstable individual, serving as a surrogate for the now deceased Will Graham, as they share an unnatural amount of similarities to one another.

However, this young detective is aware of him and his case. But fearful of losing credibility or looking insane, they keep their mouth shut about him.

The perfect set of circumstances for him to start killing again.
