Gabriel took a deep breath and turned to face Cora. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest and his hands shaking. This was it. The moment he had been waiting for, the chance to express his feelings for her in person.

He took a step closer to her, his eyes locked on her face. "Cora, there's something I need to tell you." His voice was barely above a whisper, but she leaned in closer to hear him.

"I love you," he said simply. He felt like he couldn't breathe, like his heart was about to burst out of his chest. But he forced himself to keep going. "I have loved you from the moment I met you. You're everything I've ever wanted, and I can't imagine my life without you."

Cora's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, Gabriel thought he had said too much. But then she reached out and took his hand, and he knew in that moment that everything would be okay.
