Centuries ago Earth dealt with overpopulation and famine the best way they knew how. By 3055 humans could be found as close to home as Mars and as far away as the Aeolion home world of Arterion’s Reiche. Humans not only live in but also wheel and deal on almost every planet in the 27 galaxies. The largest of the colonies is Laerden Prime. The uranium deposits discovered on its moons make up almost 90% of the universe’s power supply. Everything runs on uranium meaning everything runs on Laerden. Since the Aeolion wars from 3032-3038 the universe has seen nothing but peace, or so it seems. The Aeolion race was once humanity’s greatest enemy but now seems to be its greatest ally. There are still murderers, thieves, and even space pirates but for major threats to universal security there seems to be none. The universe has known true peace for 17 years now but as history has seemed to prove peace never lasts as long as we want it too.

If we stayed there any longer, we would have died. Earth was no longer our home, but instead a barren waste land from which we had to escape.
