Alana Shepherd's life was marred by early tragedy, starting with the loss of her parents, and leaving her in the care of their childhood friend, Grace Augustine. At the age of twelve, she is lured into Project NightLock by General Ardmore.

Motivated by the prospect of reuniting with Grace on Pandora, who had left years earlier, Alana undergoes grueling expermentation, and torture. After being forced into a long cryosleep, she wakes to the news of Grace's death, allegedly at the hands of Jake Sully. Redirecting her path towards revenge.

Yet, upon arrival, Alana's motives are complicated by unexpected connections with the Na'vi and new revelations about Grace's fate, challenging her initial beliefs.
