For year 12 English, I studied the movie called "Good night and good luck" directed by the infamous George Clooney. The movie revolves around the prominent issues in regards to the McCarthyism period of US history. It looks at the constant tension and battles between the Soviet Union and US during a time when the Cold War was just around the corner. While it did have serious implications, the movie takes a cinematic spin on this topic. With postmodernism techniques glittered in every scene and take, the movie heavily uses film noir through its use of black and white, the use of chiaroscuro lighting further accentutes the tonality that Clooney potrays as Edward Murrow steps out of the shadows to embody the stance against his main enemy: Senator Joseph McCarthy...
