A story loosely inspired by When Marnie Was There (2014) because the author was so furious at the barefaced queerbaiting they chose to write their own story out of spite.

Now a bit of plot and an exerpt of the first chapter so you get a feel for the writing: Rowan is a young traumatized little artist that after an unspeakable accident gets shipped off to her kindly uncles overseas to keep things quiet, and as she struggles to come to term with her new life she meets someone very, very special and, quite possibly, dangerous.

The window was cold on Rowan's cheek as the train snaked its way through the countryside, the soothing rumble of it gentle and coaxing against her closed eyelids.

Dreams and memories mingled in her mind's eye.
She caught a glimpse of her guardian's sweet face twist in uneasy concern; an image of her mother's bloodshot eyes; at some point she even heard her therapist's disembodied, hushed voice speaking from beyond a shut door.
