The following story grew out of a conversation that took place on a semi-sunny day in Atlanta, at Morehouse College, many years ago. We'd just gotten out of philosophy class, and were discussing the nature of reality on the quad. At some point in the discussion, a friend of mine said to me, "How do you know if we're real?" At the time, I had no answer. But the question stayed with me. Well? ARE we real? Joe Greegan, out for a walk on the beach with his dog, is about to find out...
