🎶I used to hear a simple song...that was until you came along. Now, in its place is something new. I hear it when I look at you.🎶
When brother and sister, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, try to take a boy from an orphanage from Halifax to help them with their property, Green Gables, they end up with a set of twin sisters: a strong willed, imaginative, and talkative redheaded girl, who happens to be a bookworm and an equally beautiful, creative, imaginative, and just as talkative blonde girl, who is a writer, instead.
Little do the Cuthbert siblings and the redhead girl know, the blonde forms, a relationship with one of her and her twin's classmates: a young and handsome boy, who is aware of his handsome features.
This is the story of Abigail "Abby" Shirley and Gilbert Blythe.
There's something about red-headed little girls that seems to make everyone believe that they have to be the most delightful little children who talk too much and have a larger imagination than the number of freckles on their nose.
But it's not 1908 anymore. Matthew Cuthbert isn't going to pick up Anne Shirley in a buggy.
Matthew Cuthbert is going to meet Anne's social worker first, and then will find a girl who was always meant to be happy, but never quite was because it's a dog eat dog world, and she had found herself on the wrong end of that equation.
Anne Shirley is an orphan who grew up in the foster care system, unloved and unwanted. Anne Shirley grew up with social media criticizing her body image and cultivating her fears. Anne Shirley grew up in group homes and foster families, and things happened there that she would never tell the outside world.
Parts of Anne have been left in the various hells she has been forced to live in, and Matthew can only pray that he will be able to pull her out.
