Tom is numb. It's better this way, he thinks. Feel nothing so when death comes it'll be quick. There's nothing to live for anyway, he's only causing pain for his mother, his only friend Lance can do without him, and the only girl he's ever loved could care less. Death would be fine. Soon he'll be six feet under and flowers will sway above him. But when he meets someone new, he starts awakening, and he feels afraid. He's no longer numb, and he's never felt so alive.

"I'm sorry, James. The tests were positive. You have cancer," the doctor said. In that moment, I felt my entire world crumble. Everything I knew, everything I loved, I would have to say goodbye to. After 'The End', Edd, Matt, and Tom moved into apartments. After a while, Edd and Matt got closer and shared an apartment to save more money. They won three lotteries, which gave them enough money (with extra) to buy a new house or to rebuild the old one. This all happened in five months, people who knew what happened to them would consider them very lucky. Though they thought that Tord died during the incident, they would think of him from time to time and they would be sad. Especially Tom, whenever he thought about the communist he would try his best to get him off his mind. Though, no matter what he did, he never succeeded. He felt horrible for killing him.
