Hinata Hyuga and Gaara understand each other when they first meet during the Chuunin Exam. Hinata feeling sympathy and Gaara curious of the shy Hyuuga girl who isn't afraid of him. After the Chuunin Exam when Gaara becomes Kazekage, the Suna Council encourages the Kazekage to get married, and one of the ladies offered to him is Hinata Hyuga. They start an arranged marriage until Sasuke goes looking for her. While avenging his clan, he found an old agreement between the Uchiha and Hyuga, saying that Sasuke Uchiha will marry Hinata Hyuga.
