When We Had Wings

"They say butterflies symbolize change. I guess that's why I've always loved them. When everything else in my life kept falling apart, they reminded me that something broken could still turn into something beautiful.

After years in and out of hospitals, therapy rooms, and silence, Mom thought coming back to Hawkins might help me breathe again. Maybe she was right. But walking those halls again... seeing him again... it feels like time never really moved on. Mike Wheeler-my best friend, my first everything, and the boy who used to chase butterflies with me in the summer heat.

Now I'm back where it all started, trying to figure out if I'm still the same boy who used to believe wings meant freedom-or if maybe, this time, they mean falling all over again."
