Like most high school graduates, Leela Byers had no clue what she wanted to do with her life. Luckily some military recruiter appeared just as Byers was on the verge of giving up on having a career or life of her own. Without any thought or consideration of what this entailed, Leela decided to enlist. Now to be a soldier, all she had to do was pass basic training. How hard could it be?

After one deep breath she felt fine. Then she took a second. During the second inhale, her breath got shallow and the back of her throat began burning. When she tried to breathe a third time, she couldn't feel any air going in her nose and began coughing uncontrollably. After a few seconds, all the recruits were coughing and gagging.
