With his heart falling into a black abyss, Thomas was about to pull the trigger.
Just then, when Thomas thought he lost his best friend forever - there she was, pushing him to the ground and stopping him from making the biggest mistake of his life.
In Katy's eyes burned a huge fire, which extinguished as soon as she saw Newt, so they turned into a deep ocean of tears instead. Newt looked back at her with his black eyes, almost completely lost to the virus and his last sparks of life slowly dying out.
"No... Newt, you won't die. Not as long as I breath."
And then, just like that, she did the unbelievable.
She saved his life. Katy saved Newt.

This story is based on the movies and books from "Maze Runner", which was written by James Dashner. I would highly recommend this fan-fiction to people who love Newt as much as I do and to Maze Runner fans in general, but also to people who are interested in getting into this series. Please be aware that not everything is exactly like it's in the official plot line and the characters don't belong to me (except for Katherine Johnson). Also, the pictures appearing in the chapters and from the book cover are from Pinterest and don't belong to me!
