Xiran Shen lives in Hēi'àn De Mìmì, a remote and mysterious village in Asia, with her friends, Ushi Chang and Abahai Soontornvat. Love has always been difficult for her, one way or another. However, things change with she meets the dark and lurking Xiong. When Xiran and Xiong are paired up in by a matchmaker, Nǜshì Lian, she discovers secrets about him, her ancestors, and her village.
She has been having visions of the Elixir of Immortality with the Chinese myth of Chang'e and Hou Yi. Xiong is convinced that she's holding the key to finding the spare Elixir of Immortality for the moon goddess herself, except Xiran doesn't know to trust her heart or gut.
