"Are you telling me," Sammy says through his laughter as Mike hangs his head, "that you beat the hell out of some poor guy in front of his kid?" He nods and Sammy's laughter gets louder as he clutches his side. "What the hell is wrong with you?" 

"You know what," Mike replies and Sammy's smile disappears along with his laughter. He nods grimly. "Yeah. I do."

Sammy Shelly met Mike Schmidt at a grief support group and immediately felt drawn to him. Both are security guards and both have younger siblings, making it easier to bond and grow closer.
