In a world divided by several factions, such as the non-magickal humans, the sorcerers, and the fae- where the last two are further divided between light and dark magick- Val, the lone dark sorcerer at the M.R.O in Whippet City, refuses to partake in the old, outdated tradition of using magick to bind his soul to a dark fae counterpart. For it grants sorcerers a stronger connection to their magick, but at a severe price.

However, when the Shadow Empire, a growing resistance of Dark Fae, begins to challenge the status quo, it seems the only way to protect himself and his city is to turn to the old magick. Simultaneously, Levi, a mysterious dark fae, joins the M.R.O, sparking tension with Val. As they navigate their differences, he and Levi learn that they might have to unite to thwart the Shadow Empire's threat and protect the Innocents caught in the crossfire.
