When seventeen-year-old Ethan Grady gets sucker punched by the cosmos, resulting in his violent demise, he finds himself in the ambiguous realm of the Nearafter. Ethan's death means that he must now face the afterlife, but it's not what he expects. He expects to move on to his next phase of existence, only there's a small problem. His name isn't anywhere in the Department of Expiration for Accidents and Timely Haphazards' (D.E.A.T.H.) system. What does that mean for Ethan Grady? Was there a mistake? Is that even possible?
While attempting to piece together the mystery of Mr. Grady's demise, the Department of Expiration appoints Ethan as a Reaper alongside two others, JT and Gretchen, until they learn more about the thing that had fallen from the sky to kill him. Ethan is a mystery.
While navigating this confusing and dangerous new world, he is dispatched to a small town, where the Reapers are tasked with quelling a small-scale zombie uprising brought on by a young necromancer- a hopeless romantic named Gustav Vladasvich.
Along the way, Ethan encounters Samantha Lockhart, a girl about his age who wrestles with strange bouts of intense obsessive compulsions and is one of the survivors of the small-town zombie uprising. With Ethan's help, Samantha and her mother attempt to escape the zombie-infested town, after discovering a conspiracy to cover the whole thing up.

"I know you're a virgin but have you never been touched?" He asked, sliding his other hand down onto her leg. "What makes you say that?" Kat breathed, bracing her hands on the counter. "You react like someone who's never felt another's touch," Nex whispered, slipping his thumb under the band of her shorts. "So, have you not?" Kat opened her mouth to speak but stopped when his hand slid up from her leg, gliding up her stomach and stopping just below her breast. "Not even here?" He asked, following the curve of her breast with one finger, not touching, staying just below as he dragged it back and forth. "What about here?" He asked, sliding his hand down from her ribs to the bottom of her shorts then around to her butt, fingers nearly grazing it as he inched them up, under her pajamas. "I can say with certainty, never here," he said, lowering his other hand under the waistband of her shorts, touching the top of her underwear. "No, you've definitely never felt that before. I can hear your heart racing, I can feel your breathing, I can smell your body responding like it's never experienced these sensations before," he whispered, sliding a finger just underneath the band. "Should I answer its call?" #1 in demons on 6/15 -6/17/20! Again on 6/20 and 6/22-6/23! Sweet and innocent Katherine has a routine and is a little tightly wound. Welcome to the future, written in the past. A mutant plague has rendered part of the population as zombie-like humanoids. They have a conscious mind though, but their craving for brains is a bit of an antisocial issue. Being mostly made up of impoverished individuals, it is not surprised that they got cured cheaply and lastly, despite being the main test subjects. Lochlyn is their representative. She just wanted an education beyond elementary school. A little luckier stricken part of the infected population evolved into reverents. Reverants have a feudal system over the zombies to "keep them in order". The luck may have had to do with them being upper-class when being treated. Basilica is their representative. At eighteen, she wanted body modifications, a job, and etc... as a rite of passage entering adulthood. At least that's what she was thinking. The more she was told no, the more she wondered what she could do. There are still uninfected humans left in the U.S.A. Most of them are middle-class. Katrina is their representative. She gained a family member, but lost two. She aches to find out why she can never return home again. The three eighteen-year-old females, along with their beaus, journey for truth, equality, justice, restoration, love, and freedom lead them to the same end: the capital. https://www.wattpad.com/story/59989002-my-soul-to-reap This should be considered a "first draft" kept for posterity. Please see the above link for an updated, edited version. "Help me raise some hell, Cammie, and you can get your soul back." Grim reapers are skeletal figures in black robes. That's what they are in movies, anyways. But in real life, they used to be people. Every supernatural creature knows to stay out of their way, because you don't mess with death. Or, at least they used to. Cammie isn't anything other than an ordinary girl who makes a mistake at a party. But her death leads to her meeting one of the reapers upset with the current state of affairs, and her life instantly gets more dangerous. While she's trailing behind this eccentric girl who claims to own her soul, she meets the very vampire that killed her- and he's not the only one who's taken an interest in her. The supernatural world is gearing up for war, and Cammie is one of the only ones with the chance to choose what side she wants to be on. Or, so she thinks.
