Nan is only twelve when she is betrothed to Prince Bellamy of House Morrigan. Her mother, the Duchess, is eager to sell her odd, rebellious daughter off, if it means she can regain control of Bulwark Castle. She leaves Nan with one parting message, "Remember the legend of the salt & stone." Instead of finding warmth in the arms of her future King, the Prince sees her as his ward, a thing to objectify and abuse. Nan finds herself increasingly hostile to her future husband, as she realizes her mother's plan all along: marry her off to the most murderous Prince in the realm. When Nan's plots to escape are squandered, an unexpected ally helps her find the truth path towards belonging. THE LEGEND OF SALT & STONE
