Alex and Kai are siblings and homeless after losing their mother to murder four years ago. Kai was 10 and Alex was 17 and they would have been taken by child services and place in different foster care. So instead they ran, living in abandon buildings and among other homeless people.
Their journey starts on the first day of summer in Time Square, New York. And it all starts with a piece of bread.
This is a truly gripping story about the love an older sister have for her younger brother and how far she's willing to go to protect him. After all it was a promise Alex made to her mom before she died in her arms.
