Moons ago, Hornetgaze was a warrior apprentice as Hornetpaw. He was ferocious, and bloodthirsty, and a deep darkness was found to be within him. His final days as a warrior apprentice involved the murder of his denmate, Vinepaw, and his mentor Birdwhisper. The previous ThunderClan leader, Mossystar, knew for certain that it was him as the one responsible for their deaths, but she was terrified of what he could become as a warrior. She had seen the deep darkness, and she had a plan.
Apprenticeless and getting on in years, Morningstreak was given Hornetpaw to mentor in the ways of the medicine cat. Though Hornetpaw himself was unhappy with the idea, he couldn't speak out against his leader when he was just a child. Surely he'll grow to love the job?
Many moons later, Hornetgaze is ThunderClan's only medicine cat, but no one knows if that is a good thing or not. In truth, even he is not aware of what he is capable of. But, with the help of his mate Rockycliff, he has plenty of opportunities to do what he pleases... and fortunately for him, his paws will remain clean.
