After getting punched in the face by a golem, Jason discovers he desperately needs two things: a much better offense and a much better defense.

To a hammer, everything looks like a nail, and to a mage, everything is solved with magic. That is, unless your magic is small and restricted like Jason's. Since he can't use charms, create shields or throw fireballs, he needs to find a different way to win battles.

Fortunately, Tyler is back, and as a Natural, he is ready to teach Jason the Way of the Fist. Among other things. (Nudge nudge, wink wink)

And he'll need all the help he can get, because with Isobel gone, the Louisville Mages are in disarray. That should have been the end of the threat to Jason, his friends, and the House. But she left behind a terrible legacy, and now there is a battle royale for power.

As the last person standing, Jason must find a way to defend the House and get his friends back on their feet. If he can't do it with magic, then he'll have to do it as a fighter. He will have to become the Melee Mage.

Jason Williams didn't think going out to dinner with his family was going to be any different than usual. Comments about his sexuality, some teasing from his brothers, and lots of paparazzi. You know, nothing strange at all. But a fight with his father made Jason storm out of the restaurant, down an alleyway, and suddenly his life isn't the usual anymore. He woke up in an unfamiliar dark room, and a handsome boy opened his door to explain. The snowy-haired genius was holding him captive until he got what he wanted. Life couldn't be worse. Warning: This book contains mental issues such as depression, schizophrenia, and others. If you're sensitive to that kind of thing, then you should probably think twice before reading this. Of course, if you want to read it and you're sensitive, I'm not stopping you. This book only touches upon the subjects; It doesn't go deep into suicide attempts and voices. Remember despite the hate these mental illnesses receive, I believe you. Mental illnesses are no joke, they're not something I try to use for views. I am not hating on the illnesses. I know it's hard, but they are relevant to the book so I had to include them. If you're feeling depressed, please talk to a counsellor. Or, if you're too scared for that, I'll happily listen and give you advice. Thank you! (I needed to include this because I didn't want people thinking I thought the mental illnesses were stupid. I don't, I promise. I love you, and I need you to keep fighting!)

It started out with one spell. Just one. It was simple, it was easy. It made him feel invincible. But then it grew out of control, until the only magic he could cast - the only magic he wanted to cast - was dark magic, and suddenly morals flew out the window in favor of another dark high. Fortunately (or perhaps rather unfortunately), it is then that an innocent, kind-hearted boy stumbles across the dark sorcerer's path, and, after meeting him and recognizing The Light That Could Be, the boy makes it his life's goal to lead his new "friend" back in the right direction (and also to convince the dark sorcerer to help the Light Mages win the magic war). But dark magic is dangerous. And once it has its hold on someone, it doesn't take kindly to being forced to let go. Seto doesn't want to let go. ☼☼☼ Setosolace. Very gay. Very very gay. No real-world cursing. Rated PG13, I'd say? 'Cause there is violence galore. XD
