I had been dying to talk to her, to just... see her again.
my heart still racing from fear, when suddenly, out of nowhere, someone slammed into me with full force. I froze for a second, but then I felt the familiar warmth, the soft frame of the person hugging me. It was her-Jiya.
A wave of overwhelming relief washed over me. Thank God, it's her. I wrapped my arms around her instinctively, pulling her closer, the worry that had knotted inside me, melted away the second I realized she was safe.
But then I felt her trembling, her body shaking with sobs. She was crying, and the sound of it-the sight of her tears-cut through me like a blade.
"Jiya," I whispered, I tilted her chin up, gently brushing away the tears from her cheeks, but they kept falling, each one hurting me more than the last. "Hey, it's okay. You're safe now."
She was sobbing uncontrollably, burying her face in my chest as if the world outside was too much to handle.
"Shhh," I murmured, "I'm here. I've got you. You don't have to be scared anymore."
The more I held her, the more desperate I became to stop her from crying. I stroked her hair, whispering words of comfort "Whatever happened, it's okay now. I'm not going anywhere."
