PETRICHOR - The smell of Earth after rain. Dedicated to all the children, who found their escape in nature. *_______*________*________*________*_________*_________* This story opens into the mind of a little girl, whose parents are going through divorce. Her room has an overhead window (skylight), through which she watches nature in it's full swing, In this story, nature becomes her healing channel but more than that, a protector. It helps her rise out of her lows and embrace her highs, her strength. Nature nurtures her. It distracts her from the harsh environment at home. *________*_________*________*_________*________*_________*_________* Although this is a short story, I would like to extend the universe and start a series protraying Iris as the protagonaist. So please let me know if you would like to read that. (The separate series will be of a different genre)

Centuries ago this was a great planet, now it's a husky shadow of its former beauty. Though the remnants of its former magic still linger it was destroyed by power hungry scientists. More tests to make more technology to go further, faster more this more that. Boom It all went up in flames, radiation spilled out into South America from the global power station in Brazil. The nuclear plant 15 times that of Chernobyl blew its top. The initial explosion flattened Brazil and the shockwaves were felt from the Florida keys. But the thing that truly ruined the world was the nuclear fallout. it rained down everywhere turning the world into a desolate wasteland deserts for miles and miles. Now you live in districts to survive, but what's the good in just being a number. Why would you look forward to a future of infant nothing, can you run from that? Where would you go? Where have the people who have escaped gone? Is that a future? What if there's someone who got left behind? After the first five chapters all chapters are 1000+ words, so no itty bitty update chapters. Ongoing-regular updates
