I wake to the overwhelming scents of copper and other metals, the solid structure once spaced out around us now crushed close to touch. Blood swirls about my mouth as my ears ring loud.

This is it, the small, unsavoury part of my mind tells me, all your chances have expired.

I ignore it, and in turn the piercing pain that comes when I turn my head towards Cliff. Covered in crimson, he stares back at me.
