In a world where reincarnation is not uncommon, remembering your past lives is. Melvy is one of the few that can remember. Although the memories work like a faucet, they are blurry and vague unless you twist the handle and let the water run, then the memories become clear, but each memory comes attached to the feelings of the moment which can be overwhelming to most and it is common for people like Mel to choose not to turn the handle of the faucet at all and instead choose a life of blissful ignorance.
