What if the horcrux in Harry's scar hadn't quite been as contained by the Blood Wards as Dumbledore planned. Rather than twisting Harry's personality, it darkened his aura. And the dark creatures of the magical world really liked that aura. Gee. Sucks to be a Dark Lord trying to make your comeback.

In a world where hope was no longer whispered, where its faint flicker had been long gone, the very word felt like an echo too fragile to survive on the lips of those who lived. Doom lurked, an unstoppable force creeping closer with every second, every breath, and every heartbeat. Grindelwald's actions had become impossible to ignore, a suffocating shadow stretching across continents. His followers carried his dark doctrine, spreading fear and despair under the disguise of a twisted promise: the greater good. But even as this nightmare held the world captive, a darker storm stirred. A wizard, colder and crueller than any before him, moved in silence, his magic more sinister than ambition could explain. War after war, death after death. How much longer could the world endure? Happiness seemed to be hunted to extinction, leaving behind only darkness. Yet the beginnings always carried a deceptive sweetness, when ignorance was blissful and the weight of reality lay hidden beyond misty veils. When the Ministry, in its hollow grandeur, preached promises of safety it could never keep. Until one day when it would all crumble into nothing but pure darkness. The Daily Prophet - THE NOCTIPHANY TERROR STRIKES AGAIN! 'Another dozen innocent lives were extinguished in a brutal massacre! The streets of the village are painted crimson, a gruesome river that mocks the very idea of safety. The bodies scattered and twisted paint a scene so vile it defies any description. The Ministry of Magic remains silent, offering just a hollow reassurance that "an investigation is underway". One question remains: Who is the monster behind the silver mask?

Writing this for a contest: (prompt 44) In the middle of a storm, a stranger arrives at her cabin, and she offers them shelter. But the storm's forecast said they'll be stuck for much longer than expected. *************** She was a squib, and she lived in the middle of the woods away from society. Her parents were purebloods, but they passed away from Dragon Pox, leaving the girl alone. She was raised away from society because her parents wanted to keep her safe from the wizarding world. Her parents raised her without magic, or if they did use magic, it was when she wasn't around or wasn't paying attention. She was oblivious to magic, because she had never seen it before. So, when a stranger arrives at her cabin in the middle of a wild storm, she was hesitant, because she had never been around anyone but her own parents before. When the forecast came through that the storm made it impossible for everyone to leave their homes, she realized she was stuck with the stranger longer than she anticipated. The stranger had an almost threatening aura around him, and that scared her slightly, but she couldn't help but feel intrigued by him. What she didn't know, was in the wizarding world, there was a special thing called soul mates. This stranger had arrived by accident, but there was reason. He had been trying to get away from the evil of his father, and went in search of his soul mate, but the storm slowed him down, unknowingly bringing him right to his soul mate's front door...
