Nora is new to a boarding school for teenagers where they are being trained as agents. There are two sections. The codebreaker section and the field agent section. She ends up with the codebreakers, but she is... different. She doesn't really fit in, but she soon realises that she's not the only one who wishes she didn't have to sit in silence in her room and study all day, and she sets her mind on changing the strictly regulated system of the agents for good. But will the others help her? In return for Nora, a girl has landed on the other side who can't fight at all. The prospective field agents quickly realise: Esther doesn't belong here! The codebreakers have also realised that Nora should actually be one of the field agents. But is the mix-up really bad? What if it changes the world of the agents forever....
