Nayeli's father passed away last year and her family hasn't been the same since. Right before her father's tragic car accident, Nayeli's mother was offered a position 700 miles away from where they lived to be a professional stylist. After his death, her mother declined the position saying she couldn't move after all that happened. The company didn't want to hire anybody else, so they told her to take as much time as needed and come when she was ready and they'd fund the entire move. Nayeli hated the idea of moving from the beginning, but her mom and dad were so excited about it. Until he died. Nayeli struggles with the move to California at first but soon befriends a shy girl named Cammie who has a lot more in common with her than she would've thought. Their bond grows and changes as they endure the challenges of being not only teenagers but lesbian teenagers at that, and only Cammie is out. Cammie helps Nayeli to not only come to accept the move, but to accept herself as well.
