After Japan's elimination from the 2018 PIFA World Cup, Anri Teieri prompted the Japanese Football Union to launch a program to scout high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup.
Kashimo Wakasa, a forward, receives an invitation to this program soon after his team wins the chance to go to Nationals, because he scored the game-changing goal himself instead of passing to his less-skilled teammates.
Ego Jinpachi, the coach, intends to "destroy Japanese loser football" by introducing a radical new training regimen: isolate 300 young forwards in a prison-like institution called "Blue Lock" and put them through rigorous training aimed at creating "the world's greatest egotist striker."

The One Over Heaven [Blue Lock x OC]
The Japanese Football Association's aspiration for World Cup triumph drives them to introduce an intensive training regimen in the quest to discover the next striker for the national team. This quest lead them to an unorthodox program called Blue Lock which would determine Japan's star striker. The roster of contenders consists of three hundred high school players vying for the spot, but out of them, only a single candidate will emerge victorious. To find the best participant, each diamond in the rough must compete against others through a series of solo and team competitions to rise to the top. The best striker in the world will do anything to get to the top, even if means to destroy the lives of his opponents.
