Amulet Spade, daughter of the deceased baker, Theodore Parker and the deceased nurse, Emily Parker. After a horrible car accident in 2002, when Amulet was only a small girl at age four, both of her parents passed, leaving her as a scarred orphan. Amulet was then set off to live with her aunt and uncle, Sabrina and Uriah Spade. After the accident, Amulet was mute, not ever talking to her family, to friends. She excluded herself from everyone, locking her self in her room. Mrs. Spade thought Amulet was petrified after the accident, but, Amulet knew there was more to the story. However, as Amulet's disability to communicate with others was an obstacle she had to face, Amulet knew, and still does know, she saw something on the night of the accident. That something could be a potential clue of who Amulet really is.

In the 1930s, in a highschool called Ashford Academy. A journalist by the name Esther Charlene shares her experiences at the school. Esther was an interesting one. She always hated school, until sudden mysterious death's happened in the school. She never made a lot of friends, since she wasn't a fan of the friendship thing. Later on she befriends a girl named Heather Marlene. As Esther's friendship grows, what will it grow to? What is Heather Marlene to Esther? To continue, There was a girl whose nose never stopped bleeding. Rumors always filled the school, like a virus. Nobody knows who the girl really is. Esther calls her ' sakodo' but she was given the name slit-faced girl by the people who saw her. But those people that feared or saw her died the next day. Why do people die the same? How do people die? Most importantly, what killed them? One day the girl suddenly disappears. Nobody knows where. A few days after she disappeared, all that was left of her was forgotten. Nobody knew who she was. All traces of her were gone. What really happened to that girl? What was her name? Where did she disappear to? What was the girl's backstory? As the story unfolds.
