A Tournament is held once a year, where 34 children between the ages of 12 and 18 from 19 Regions battle for a chance to be the sole Champion. It has been going on for almost a hundred years. It is a tradition at this point. Everyone accepts it as what it is. Then, one year, the rules change. Instead of children between the ages of 12 and 18, they make it adults between the ages of 18 to 35. With this change, a woman is selected: Mavery.
Mavery's past is quickly brought to the forefront. A truth about a death everyone assumed happened 15 years ago of one of their Champions. She has been alive this whole time, trying to hide from her past that is now forcing its way into everyone's present.
She will now have to show everyone the truth and face the consequences of her actions, both past and present. She will be forced to battle with her wits in a Tournament she knows will kill her, and she is almost content with that, content with the fact she can finally rest.
However, the rest of the nation will not let her die and will bring her back to life, kicking and screaming. They will make her fight for others and herself.
Follow Mavery as she deals with her past, present, and future. Life, death, fake smiles, a performance, beauty, promises broken and more kept, all of these things and more stand in her way of finding an ending she feels she rightfully deserves and wants.
We all know the story of the Mockingjay Rebellion.
Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen volunteers for her twelve year old sister for this event called The Hunger Games where twenty four children fight to the death and only one comes out as victor. A boy named Peeta Mellark was reaped alongside her. These two come out of the games as "Starcrossed Lovers". This caused a few uprisings in some districts. President Snow doesn't want another rebellion so he sends Katniss and Peeta back into the games with other Victors from each district. This causes a whole other war and this time, the districts pull out on top. The Hunger Games are ended and Snow is executed and everyone is safe again.
Yeah, let's fast foward about fifty years. My name is Larise Parigood, and the Hunger Games are back. And this time, they're as heart wrenching as ever.
