A Tournament is held once a year, where 34 children between the ages of 12 and 18 from 19 Regions battle for a chance to be the sole Champion. It has been going on for almost a hundred years. It is a tradition at this point. Everyone accepts it as what it is. Then, one year, the rules change. Instead of children between the ages of 12 and 18, they make it adults between the ages of 18 to 35. With this change, a woman is selected: Mavery.
Mavery's past is quickly brought to the forefront. A truth about a death everyone assumed happened 15 years ago of one of their Champions. She has been alive this whole time, trying to hide from her past that is now forcing its way into everyone's present.
She will now have to show everyone the truth and face the consequences of her actions, both past and present. She will be forced to battle with her wits in a Tournament she knows will kill her, and she is almost content with that, content with the fact she can finally rest.
However, the rest of the nation will not let her die and will bring her back to life, kicking and screaming. They will make her fight for others and herself.
Follow Mavery as she deals with her past, present, and future. Life, death, fake smiles, a performance, beauty, promises broken and more kept, all of these things and more stand in her way of finding an ending she feels she rightfully deserves and wants.

(REUPLOADED - deleted at 3k reads) Like all children in his world, 14-year-old Finnick Odair had the chance of being chosen for the Hunger Games. In a pool stock full of names, he was just as vulnerable as anyone from the ages of 12-18. And in District Four, which often tends to produce Career tributes, its residents could only hope that this year's pair would fall under that description. On Reaping day, a 14-year-old boy's name is called. A name that is often whispered down the hallways of the local high school, giggled at, fawned over. The gasps that arose afterwards were monumental. Him, of all people? It couldn't be, could it? Yet it was. At age 14, Finnick Odair was called forth to be a tribute in the 65th annual Hunger Games. Many stood there and thought, "He's just a pretty face. How could he possibly bring home the victor's crown?" However, some people are far more than a pretty face. In fact, it's even said that those with such captivating allure are most often the ones that can catch you off guard and bring you to your knees. __________________________ Excerpt: ❝25, 24, 23...❞ I can do this. I have the skills, the desire--I can win. It's possible. I know it's possible. The odds may be against me, against all of us, but one of us has to win. ❝15, 14, 13...❞ So to everyone in Four watching; to my mom, dad, and Annie Cresta, I'm making a promise to you. ❝7, 6, 5, 4...❞ Whatever happens here, I will fight like hell to come back home, ❝3, 2, 1...❞ I promise you. Like the Hunger Games series? Then you'll love ''Man Hunt'' When Alice awakes in a small, bare room with nothing more than a letter, a backpack, a change of clothes and some survival gear, she doesn't know what to expect. She has no recollection of how she got to where she is, or even where she is and she can't help but feel frightened about the whole situation. According to the letter addressed to her name, her parents signed her up for a new televised game show in which twelve teenagers will be split into two equal teams. The teenagers will then take part in a slightly modified version of a childhood game they are all quite familiar with for the chance to win a sum of €1,000,000 for every member of the winning team. When Alice meets the rest of her group, they soon realise that they are stranded on an island and they have no other option but to cooperate. They quickly find the instructions and map their team has been supplied with and are forced to begin a game which they fear is darker than it may seem. The twelve teenagers can't be any more different, however they must push their divergence aside and hope that they have what it takes to win the game and return home with the money that could change their lives forever. In a tale of adventure, action and deceit; do Alice and her team have what it takes to leave the island as champions or is there a more sinister fate in store for them? Is this really just a game as their letters describe, or are there darker forces at work behind closed doors?
