Chaewon is on her own, a new city, a new university, with a million new opportunities at her fingertips. Yet somehow the only constant in her strange new world is a hockey player with a smile that makes her heart soar and her skin buzz. And she hates her. Because the only way to understand the flutter of her heart and the failure of her composure around this girl was the fact that she was utterly detestable.
(AKA: Chaewon was a little in love with Yunjin, and /a lot/ in denial about it, but it works out in the end.)

In high school, Yunjin was the quiet, eccentric girl who felt out of place among her peers. Slurs, really, her voice lower and her sentences slower than usual, which is just another reminder that neither of them are really in the right condition to be considering this. She's not wasted, but she's not sober either. "You're drunk, I'm drunk, we're both here, we're both- you know..." No, Chaewon doesn't know. She doesn't know anything anymore because there's no way that Yunjin - HuhYunjin, her best friend for over a decade, of which approximately half of that time Chaewon has been in love with her for, and who has never been anything but painfully, torturously heterosexual - is suggesting what Chaewon thinks she's suggesting. (or; Chaewon falls in love with her best friend when she's sixteen, and never quite learns how to fall out.) Maybe it was the way she constantly challenged her for the top academic spot in their year, turning every lesson and assignment into an unspoken competition. Or perhaps it was her polished demeanor, that effortless poise that only someone born into privilege could pull off. It was to no avail: the redhead only gripped her tighter. "Dance with me." She spoke as she stared at Chaewon, studying every detail of her face. Suddenly, all the anger seemed to dissipate when Chaewon looked back into Yunjin's dark eyes. She was severely wasted, hot, and her mind was all over the place; but Yunjin was her constant. She hated how Yunjin filled her chest with a warmth she couldn't explain. And she hated that she couldn't just keep being angry. But she loved Huh Yunjin.
