It's 1946, San Francisco. A year after the end of World War II. Kelly Rossi does something dumb. No surprise there. Just one of a million dumb things. But this one's a doozy. He's shipped north and east to barren Modoc County in California. Too young to go to real jail, Kelly ends up at ... reform school. Well, you could call it that. It's really just a few buildings out in the middle of nowhere filled with angry, confused and sad boys. Kelly's the kind of fellow who knows how to make his own luck. How to take a bad hand and still win big. His plan is to ride out his two years and do as little as possible. Skate by, don't make waves. Lay low. All of that changes.... when he meets his bunkmate, a sullen, silent boy named Lee Clarke. Kelly can't resist a mystery. He has to find out what makes Lee tick, why he's locked up, and if maybe, just maybe, he has a secret in common with Kelly. A terrible secret. A secret that might help them become friends. Or even...something more. Ha!!! This is my reform school trope book. I've planned it for a very long time. Finally ready to get going. Hope you enjoy the ride! (sorry)
